Welcome to North of Highland Camping Area
Located near the tip of Cape Cod, on almost 60 acres of pine forest. Since the campground is completely surrounded by the Cape Cod National Seashore camping at North of Highland is only a quick 1/2 mile walk from Head of the Meadow Beach.
Our campground map should give you a good understanding for the layout of our campsites and the location of our facilities, such as our recreation building, camp store, hot showers, laundry, quiet room and restrooms. It also gives you some idea of the overall scale of North of Highland Camping Area.
Unfortunately, what this black and white campground map does not do very well is to convey any of the natural beauty of our campground, showing how our sites are nestled among the pine trees in the heart of the Cape Cod National Seashore Park.
This image was taken by a drone flying over the Cape Cod National Seashore Park, looking back at Area One of our campground with the ocean and Head of the Meadow Beach in the background. The large light colored rectangular shape is the roof of our recreation hall / camp store / shower and laundry facility. The light orange roof is our camp office and owner’s residence, and between them is our playground and main parking area.
Since our campground is completely surrounded by the Cape Cod National Seashore, camping at North of Highland means camping in the midst of many of the natural wonders of Cape Cod.
We have provided two more aerial photos (further below) to give you a better appreciation for just how naturally wooded our campground and the surrounding pine forest of the Cape Cod National Park really are. Although these two smaller aerial photos were taken several years ago, they still give an accurate picture of the natural beauty of our campground. These photos also provide some context to show just how closely North of Highland Camping Area sits to both Head of the Meadow Beach and to the tip of Cape Cod which stretches into the background of the second image.

Arial photo of North of Highland looking back towards the tip of Cape Cod
You will see Head of the Meadow Beach toward the top right edge of this first smaller photo. The parking lot on the far right is the Head of the Meadow Beach parking for the town of Truro, while just to its left is the Cape Cod National Seashore beach. If you look closely in the photo where we have typed “Path to Beach” you can actually see a portion of the sandy path leading from the campground to Head of the Meadow Beach as it winds through the trees of the Cape Cod National Seashore.
In this second smaller photo you will see a reverse view, looking back at the campground with the tip of Cape Cod hooking around the bay in the background. Head of the Meadow Road running along the bottom portion of the photograph, just below the campground. Once again North of Highland is shown totally encompassed by the pine forest of the Cape Cod National Seashore camping in this secluded setting with the curved tip of Cape Cod nearby is what makes North of Highland so special.
